PLEASE NOTE: the updated schedule for the Middle Eastern Ensemble differs somewhat from the information on some YSW flyers. The workshop starts a day earlier as Yair has concerts on Aug 9th and 10th and won't be able to teach in the afternoons then. The workshop is now 6 days instead of 5, the workshop fee remains the same.

Back by popular demand, the Middle Eastern Music Ensemble workshop was one of the surprise highlights of Yiddish Summer 2017, led by the virtuoso violinist, oud player and vocalist Yair Dalal. We are thrilled that Yair will lead the ensemble again in 2018. Ensemble participants from 2017 and newcomers are equally welcome!
 
Yair writes: "This workshop focuses on music and songs from the Middle East, on folk tunes, instrumental tunes, the Maqam system, rhythm and melodies, taksim-improvisation and more. Please bring your instruments, your voice, your knowledge and your love of music and we will play, sing and study together - and prepare a concert at the end of our time together."
