In 2017, fourteen teenage girls from the Schola Cantorum in Weimar and elsewhere in Europe traveled to Israel to meet the multi-ethnic, multi-religious Voices of Peace girls’ choir at their home in the Arab-Jewish Community Center of Tel Aviv-Yaffa. After two weeks of travels and rehearsals in Tel Aviv-Yaffa and Weimar we are delighted to present the latest version of the KADYA Youth Choir in this year’s opening concert. In 2018, there are both veterans and newcomers among the singers, and the repertoire includes both “old favorites” and a new focus on songs in Hebrew and Arabic as well as Yiddish. The artistic mission of the KADYA Youth Choir is deeply connected to its social and educational mission; to be a platform for a culturally very diverse group of girls from Europe and Israel to share experiences, learn about each other’s worlds and lives, and develop lasting friendships. We proudly present this year’s Kadya Youth Choir, accompanied by Yiddish Summer artists Mark Kovnatskiy and Julia Kabakova, and directed by Yair Dalal and Alan Bern.

Join us for a moving, inspirational YSW 2018 opening concert!
