Dr. Diana Matut (Jewish studies, voice)
Diana Matut studied Jewish Studies, Yiddish Studies and Jewish Music. She taught at the conservatory Halle (Saale) and music courses for children and adults in Europe, Israel and North America.
Beside her work at the university, she is singer of the ensemble simkhat hanefesh (Joy of the Soul; Ensemble simkhat hanefesh - alte jüdische Musik) which specializes in Jewish Music from the Renaissance and Baroque.
Since 2012, Diana Matut leads the children's song workshops at Yiddish Summer Weimar. Several projects have emerged from these courses, among them a CD with Yiddish children's songs, a cooperation with Alan Bern and Voices of Peace (Haifa) for the setting of children's poems by poet Kadya Molodovsky and several beautiful theater-projects.
