Ilana Cohen (IL; Dance)
Ilana Cohen was born in Rehovot, Israel. She was educated in Kibutz Beit Oren in her youth.
She joined the Inbal Dance Theater in 1964 and shortly became the main dancer and soloist, to follow as Inbal’s house choreographer. She has created many known dance works that appeared in the prestige Israel Carmiel festivals throughout the years. She was chosen to represent Israel as a soloist in her work by the biggest and known dance festival promoters in North Carolina, South Africa and Japan. She has collaborated with known creators, among them Eli Gorenstein, Mati Seri, Haim Medicis, Shlomit Cohen Asif, Shlomo Bar, Ehud Banai, Ori Vidislavski and many more.
Ilana has taught modern ethnic dance courses originated from Yemen dance culture for 35 years in the dance academy in Jerusalem and Seminar Hakibutzim in Tel Aviv and has taught many ethnic and professional dancing groups in the US, Europe, South Africa and Japan.
In 2017, Ilana won the prestige Emi award for her life work.
